Our History
and Origins

The history of the alfajor began in the Arab world; etymologically, its name comes from al-hasú, which means 'the filling' in Arabic.

From there, it evolved into alajú, and more recently, into alfajor

Its origins date back to the year 712 in Medina-Sidonia, during the Muslim conquest of the Iberian Peninsula.

Medina-Sidonia became the capital of Arab pastry-making, and the fame of its sweets and alfajores crossed all borders, spreading throughout the civilized world of the time.

ALASÚ PASTELERÍA was born out of longing.
